6-a-side Football 2004
Not only have the 3rd Stoneleigh Cub Scouts won the Cub Craft Competition again, but also the District Football Cup. Both the Senior (9 ¼ plus years) and the Junior (9 ¼ years minus, on the day) sides won their leagues. Your reporter was a bit busy refereeing some of the other matches so he's a little short on the details, but he thinks they won every game!
Playing for the Juniors were: William F (dad was the coach), William H, Harry, Joseph, Matthew P, Joe and Christopher. They, and we, were really pleased with the result.
That afternoon the senior players were: Elliot, Matthew C, Patrick, Eoghan (dad was the coach), Harry, Jonathan, and Kieran. Sharp eyed readers in 3rd Stoneleigh parents will have noticed the apparent mistake in that Harry appears twice above: thanks for a superb effort Harry, in both leagues. Everyone played to their best level and despite really difficult games, 3rd Stoneleigh Cubs won over all seven teams. One moment to remember among many was when Kieran chipped a ball over the goalie from the half way line, and in! Beckham and Pele would have been proud.
Thanks to all the leaders, coaches, parents and friends for all their help with transport, kit, and encouragement.
