Quiz Night 2004
Yet again the Quiz Night proved to be a thoroughly entertaining event thanks to the organizers Phil & Carole Thomas and Esther Parks with help from Steve Lee and Paul Thomas. Throughout the year, Phil and Carole had been taking careful notes of esoteric facts in an attempt to build a devilishly difficult set of questions for us poor punters: "When was the battle connected with Chelsea's football ground" (no, not the last time Chelsea met Arsenal). In the event, the teams (all twelve of them) proved to more than a master of most of the things thrown at them.
Esther's food was well received at the half way mark and she did a sterling job, almost single handedly, on the bar. She even managed an excellent auction of left over booze at the end.
At the final count up, it was a close call but the Coffaro team claimed the first prize of a case of wine plus chocolates for their children (who, after all, had managed to answer the chemistry and Harry Potter questions that had baffled their parents).
