Scoutabout 2005

My name is Dan and Scoutabout 2005 was the second time I have had the opportunity to go camping with the Scouts.

We set off on Friday evening in pouring rain and a thunder storm. I thought it would be ruined, but was really excited to get going. We helped to load the bags and equipment - we were really fortunate that the leaders had gone down the day before and set up the tents. Some were less fortunate!!!

We arrived in no time and saw lots of other Scouts we knew on the way. When we arrived in Sussex we set up our sleeping arrangments and chilled out. Later we had a disco to celebrate the start of Scoutabout 2005.

Over the weekend I had the best time of my life, doing all the things I thought I would never do until I was older. I drove 2 cars, rifle shooting, riding quad bikes but unfortunatly I could not paraglide due to the weather. These are just a handful of the things I did.

The Scout leaders were absolutely brilliant, as usual. Even though it was a weekend, they cooked and cleaned up after us.

I would love to have the oppurtunity to do it again sometime. IT WAS BRILLIANT.

Scoutabout was a fantastic experience to be included in.

We left at about six o'clock on the friday evening. At that moment I wasn't looking forward to it. It was pouring down with rain, and we were sitting on the minibus for ages, but then we finally left. It didn't take long at all to get there, only about three quarters of an hour. I was so glad when we arrived because the tents were already put up and i've experienced putting tents up in the rain and its not very fun. We had a quick dinner and then we all went straight off to the disco. This really got the weekend started.

No-one got to sleep that night we were just too excited.

On Saturday there were numerous activites; it was better than i expected.

Overall it was a fantastic weekend and i am gutted that i will be too old to go next time.
