4 leaders, 8 boys and 5 girls arrived after an uneventful trip to a scorching hot campsite. Despite the heat, the tents were soon pitched.
archery, with mixed success, although most people improved as the session went on.
traverse wall gave a good, arm-burning challenge.
Wednesday was more interlectual, with a visit to the Galleries of Justice museum in Nottingham. This is located in the old county court. We saw the courtroom, cells, where the women worked, and the condemned cells. The presentations are done by real actors. We then had a hands on session, with some of the things the prison service and police have used. On the way back to site we went swimming.
Thursday saw us make us of the National Watersport Centre for sailing. A lack of wind didn't help, but everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, although it seemed they were more often in the water than in their boats!
We then returned to site for quadbiking and rifle shooting, before starting to take down the tents, in between showers.
Friday dawned windy and sunny, and after clearing the rest of the site we headed down to Alton Towers. Everybody seemed to have a brilliant time, and the weather stayed dry (just) - unlike some on the water rides. We stayed right to closing time at 7 pm, because rather than heading home, we had arranged to stay in a Scout HQ in nearby Uttoxeter. We then had fish/sausage & chips, before everyone had an early night after a long, tiring day.
