100 beavers, cubs, scouts, leaders and parents attended this year's Group Camp, held once again at Polyapes. The theme of the weekend was blockbuster movies. We arrived on Friday night, with the tents already set up, so it was dinner and then the evening's entertainment.
All the girls in the scouts are keen dancers,so the cubs, scouts and parents were split into two, to prepare a dance routine from the Abba tunes of Mama Mia, one lot to MamaMia and the others to Honey, Honey. After a he
sitant start, each group came up with a presentable dance.Saturday morning saw the cubs and scouts exploring the wods, plus a few games. The beavers came, and following lunch, the games started. Based on the popular movie Wall-E, the teams had to find the parts of Wall-E, which were scattered around the field, and then put him together. Other games included Narnia (finding items in a blacked out room), Golden Compass (collecting clues from compass points to solve an anagram).
After a magnificent roast dinner prepared by Vicki
and Esther, the Beavers and younger cubs watched a film, whist the older cubs and the scouts played games.Once the children had gone to bed, the adults in their 4 teams then took part in the battle for the Oscars. Each team had to write and perform a play. dress up an usherette, create an alcoholic ice cream and a poster. Oscars were awarded for the best of each.Sunday morning saw more games being played.
